I really enjoyed this book, and highly recommend it to others. "Mommie Lit" is one of my favorite genres, and this book is one of the best I've read so far. The women are likable, funny and quirky while managing to stay realistic at the same time. This book is very funny in some parts, very touching in others, and I must admit that in parts of the book, I could completely relate to their situations with their spouses, jobs or family problems.
I think the "chick lit" market is overwhelmed with "women's friendships" books, and I tend not to read very many of them as it seems there are always the same stereotypes, but the author managed to break these molds and make very lifelike characters. These women make mistakes, sometimes huge ones. They have fears, they have problems, and their lives are far from perfect.
It's a close call, but I've decided to trade this one, only bc it was too good not to share! Also, there is a preview chapter at the end of this book for Gaskell's next book, and it sounded good as well. I gave this book 4.5 stars out of 5.
