Return to Rainshadow Island and its quirky inhabitants in this intriguing story of Rachel Blake, a product of a Harmonic Enlightenment Community who has to struggle against society's preconceived notions of her abilities and mores. Plagued by horrific nightmares and a missing memory of time spent in the mysterious Preserve, Rachel is uncertain how to react to the presence of Harry Sebastian who has come to protect his family's interests and treasures. Each discovers that there is more to the other than is visible to the naked eye but little suspect that their talents will only be enhanced by their association until they realize that Rachel is one of the few people who can handle Harry's dark-end talent while he may be the only one who can rescue her from the dangers in her dreamscapes. Add in a dustbunny sidekick with a penchant for collecting items and one can't help but be enchanted by yet another mesmerizing tale set on the world of Harmony.

This is another fascinating journey into the world of Harmony complete with the author's beloved dust bunnies. One is always drawn into this mysterious paranormal world with a little trepidation given the multiple forces at play. This tale with its eerie monsters that beset Rachel Blake's dreams creates shivers which are not immediately alleviated by the presence of the hard-edged and mysterious Harry Sebastian. It is always entertaining to get glimpses of the quirky dust bunnies and Darwina with her doll Amberella provided several intriguing scenarios although my mind still boggles at the idea of a dust bunny on a rocking horse. I always enjoy the author's ability to create strong women who don't put up the the nonsensical notions of the opinionated males who somehow think they are going to take control and this story was no exception to the rule. The remarkable talents and mysterious crystals which form the basis for so much of the conflict in these intriguing stories keep them fresh and entertaining while gradually revealing more and more about this mysterious paranormal society. A great addition to the series.
