I really didn't enjoy this book. I have never seen the movie but just didn't find this book frightening at all (perhaps I'm jaded from all the horror I previously read?). I couldn't make any connection to the characters, scenes dragged on and large pieces were very boring. I did make it to the end, but it just wasn't one of those books which left a lasting impression.
This is just my personal opinion. For anybody interested in horror and is leaning towards reading this book, I think you SHOULD. It's a classic horror and so many others loved it that'd I'd give it a shot.
