This book is hard to get into. The author is not very good at writing in a way that allows the reader to visualize the world in which the characters live in. Plus she refers to things as if it is something you should know already even though nothing was written previously on it and the author doesn't explain what she is referring to. So your left wondering what is she taking about? Even though I had trouble getting into the book I did like a few of the characters so I finished it. I have the second book already because both were given to me so I am going to read it next. However had I not already had the second book I'm not sure I would've continued with the series. At the end of the book your left with no real idea as to what Kate's powers are. Or her background. But I liked her and Curran.
