When I got this book, years ago, I enjoyed it and I re-read it periodically. However, I MUST declutter my house, so I am putting this book out there.

Tevra, the Colonel who is in charge of the Light Cavalry, lives in a world where she has the King's trust and the job of bringing the Forest Province back in line after a crooked governor almost lets havoc reign.

Helping Treva is her right-hand man, Captain Hetwith, her "young wolf" who is impulsive and quickwitted and loyal. And to help her understand the forest people, the deposed Forest King, Dard, becomes her secretary and offers to become more to her.

Evil magic stalks her in her attempt to bring the Province to task and Hetwith and Dard must both save her. But can either save her from herself?
