The cover page of this book is greenish grey and gives an old fashioned and classy look. The first page after the index has the map of the "Spiderwick Estate and the surrounding areas". The next page has the introduction. Its a daring tale, but there's a twist. This book is not the very start. That's right.there's stuff been missed! There are three heroes - Mallory,Simon and Jared Grace, who have just moved to an old dusty estate with the name of Spiderwick. And no sooner had they settled in than mysteries arose.A secret room,a long-lost book and a house guest filled with woes. But that lost book was filled with clues.when found would set things right. This book is well-illustrated.The titles are funny and sort of tricky, like the first one "Chapter one in which more than a cat goes missing". Jared is feeling bored his life has become more worse. Sadly he goes to the kitchen and finds his twin Simon sitting with an untouched saucer of milk in front of him. he's looking for his stupid cat "Tibbs". he expects Jared to help him find the cat and says that he's been waiting for him.Without helping him Simon goes to the library. Its Jared's secret place. Then the entry of an elf named Thimbletack takes place. holding the guide Jared calls him.Thimbletack is a cute and good elf and knows magic of course ,he speaks every phrase in a rhyming form. Like"A human boy is like a snake, and his promises are easy to break." Then Simon is kidnapped by stupid frog-like creatures, bigger than frogs called Goblins. then they go to find Simon, where goblins attack them. Somehow they save themselves . Then when they look through the black stone and realize that the goblins are gone!
