I am a tough critic with Patricia Briggs and I totally loved this one. I really think her Alpha & Omega series is little better than her Mercy series (There were a few books in the Mercy series I absolutely hated).
What I appreciate here is that Briggs didn't force herself to fabricate a bunch of dumb problems to keep Charles and Anna's relationship interesting. With the changes in their world, I really can see Charles's job having a huge impact on them (much like someone who just married a military man or a cop). There isn't much romance in the way of "getting it on" but I loved the development & growth of the relationship.
I am also so thankful that Briggs chose not to force a bunch of scripture down my throat. I don't mind quoting scripture if it is done smoothly or it adds to a character, but in the beginning of some of her books it was horribly done and I felt like Briggs was a teleavangelist or something. Although Briggs does mention that Anna can quote scriptures & Christianity in general, she doesn't overdo it.
I loved the typical serial killer storyline and also the different agencies that come into fruition as a response to paranormals outing themselves. I have to say I really liked how it ended as well (won't give it away, somewhat predictable but it felt good all the same).
Overall great read. Very worth it if you lean more towards the urban fantasy than typical romance.
