I have picked this book up several times in the bookstore only to put it back on the shelf. I realize it is on "Oprah's Book Club" list and has rave reviews. I just wasn't sure if I wanted to read about someone else's addiction.
I had my own addiction 20+ years ago and can relate to a lot of what James experiences. Thank the gods I never got into crack. This book made me laugh out loud, cry (several times) and the fury raged at times, relating to circumstances and characters in the book. It is a well written story of a young mans journey through drug addiction and rehab. Written almost like a journal as you follow him daily through his experiences.
In the end I am glad I had the opportunity to read this book and thank James for this sharing his life so candidly, it took great bravery to do so.
