Life is good for Maxine McCoy. The is the executive producer of a popular talk show, happily married, and pregnant with her first child. Although she faces challenges - her husband's infidelity, and her program's sliding ratings - she looks down on Los Angeles from her hilltop home, and is happy that she has managed to rise above the limited circumstances of her childhood in a poor Philadelphia community. Her security is shattered what a call from the caretaker of her 76 year old grandmother, who raised her, summons her back to the neighborhood she would rather forget.
