I really enjoyed this book. The characters were well-developed and they were the driving force behind the plot rather than a mystery or some outside force acting on them. I enjoyed reading about the relationship between them. It seemed believable and kept my interest the entire book. I was a little leery that the ending would be disappointing since it is obviously the first book in a series, but the author actually did a great job. The book would work fine as a stand-alone read even if you never got around to reading part 2.
