Every Southern town had a "Jew Store". I never knew why or how one came to my little sleepy Southern town. Ms. Suberman has written a novel which uses a Jewish family to tell this story. The story of the family from its beginning in Russia to its isolation in a small Southern town is interesting enough to have a background for a fine novel, but the story of how the Jews picked someone to run and own a "Jew Store" would have made another fine novel. She has incorporated both in this entertaing book to make it a rewarding and entertaining experience. I enjoyed it and recommend it to others.
