If, by the middle of this novel, you haven't figured out the reason for the murders, then you just haven't read enough mysteries. :-)

The true value of this book is depicting how people lived in this time period, without going into too much detail, as well as the development of the characters involved. Then there was the interest of wanting to learn how the novel played out in favor of the good characters. Unlike many mysteries, the main character is not overly brilliant or without fault. Fortunately, he has several very good friends to advise and assist him in his investigation, as well as his love life.

Even before I finished the book I'd already requested the second book in this series. It was a very entertaining read. Unfortunately, I can't post this book here due to some minor water damage. So it's thrift-store bound.
