Historical book of Irena Sendler who saved 2500 children from the Nazis in Poland during the war. Very interesting. (In comparison, Schindler saved 1000). She was a hidden historical figure because Poland was communist after the war and no one knew what she had done. The other story here other than Sendler heself is the story of how she was discovered - by a group of 3 girls in Kansas doing a National History Day project. They won regionals and states but have kept this project alive in the years since by performing their drama thousands of times around the world and bringing the story of Irena Sendler to the world. Inspirational and interesting story. Well written in alternating parts about the girls and Irena's life and then how they met her and got to know her before she died.
