Charlie Plato has her hands full trying to keep her country-western bar, CHAPS, in the black and her attraction to her business partner, former TV hunk Zack Hunter, under control. The last thing she needs is to host a twenty-year high school reunion. Knowing that the party is in honor of the school's most beloved teacher, Reina Diaz, makes Charlie feel like she's done her good deed for the year -- until the teacher is found strangled to death in the ladies' room, clutching a shred of a photo. Even more horrific is the knowledge that Reina had to have been murdered by one of her adoring former students.

As Charlie delves into the disturbing crime, she discovers that not everyone was so fond of Reina, and that the "world's most wonderful teacher" was hardly a saint. Each student seems to have a motive and a different, troubling take on the life of Reina Diaz. The photo in the dead woman's hand is the only real clue to this web of small deceits, big lies and dangerous secrets that stretch back over twenty years. And each revelation brings Charlie one step closer to uncovering a killer whose need for revenge is far from satisfied
