These six stories were very uneven, as noted by other reviewers. The Bujold story was up to her usual excellent standard. The others ranged from middling to awful - lots of cliches and misuse of science fiction and fantasy situations, and some really inept world-building. Just because it's a short story, doesn't mean the author can get away with a planet that has space flight and hand-held computers, but yet apparently has no writing or monetary system - with no explanation. What!? The Roberson story telegraphed its ending, indeed, its whole plot , then took a long, tedious, prosy time to get to it.
