I really love this series of novels featuring Kate Shugak, a P.I. who lives in Alaska and is part of the native culture there. Author, Dana Stabenow, gives equal time to the characters and also to the environment, and I always enjoy the scenery that she describes so well.
In this installment in the series, Kate tries to drum up help for stopping the plan to drill for oil in the area, and two older women who were friends of Kate's family and who are environmentalists also try to help. They live in a cabin off to themselves, so they are in danger from those of the opposite persuasion.
Kate is a character I always enjoy in these novels and since the author lives in Alaska, her knowledge of the areas she writes about is genuine. ~SW
