Like many thrillers, this story was over the top and could never happen in real life, but I was completely sucked in and read it in 2 days. The main characters weren't particularly likable (as seems to be the norm for many psychological thrillers these days), but fortunately a couple of their friends were. This is perfect escapism, and a step above in quality over most of the books in the overly saturated "Gone Girl" genre.
