A Simple Plan by Scott Smith is probably the best suspense novel I've read. It is well planned out, a bit complicated and has a plot that keeps the reader on the edge of his/her seat the entire way through the book.

Two brothers are out in the snowy fields one day when they find the wreckage of a small plane with the dead pilot still inside. They take a look inside the plane and find a bag with $4 million in cash just laying there. The brothers can turn it in to the authorities, they can put it back in the plane and say nothing, or they can follow Hank's plan, which is simple and in his mind will work.

This book is about loyalty, honesty and what money can do to people that they think will never happen and what lengths people will go to in order to keep to "the plan" and rationalize whatever they do, no matter how bad. An excellent story. ~SW
