This was my first audiobook experience and it was different- not bad, but different. The stories were excellent (I liked the 3rd 'In the Death Room' best) and after my daughter and I listened to 1408 we then watched the movie and the details seemed so much sharper to us (though we'd seen it before).
It's important to note that while originally these 3 stories could only be found on this audiotape they are all included in the later 'Everything's Eventual'.
All in all, in case there are others like myself not quite wanting to take the audiobook plunge, it was a good experience and I would do it again. A lot, I think, depends on the voice of the reader and in this case Stephen King himself did an excellent job. These 3 were also short stories which made for a good introduction to the format, in my opinion.
