I wasn't impressed when I started reading this book because it felt too similar to other vampire PNR series out there such as J.R. Ward's BDB series and Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series, but not as well written. However, by the end of the book I felt like the series did have some potential. The problems I had with the books were: a) The "c" word was used to refer to the female anatomy and it was used liberally. That term is derogatory, not sexy. I felt that in itself the use of this term greatly took away from the story. b)The world building did not pull me in, there were just too many different things going on and the way it was all presented just didn't do it for me. It felt like there were too many different ideas all jumbled together, and some of it I just could not buy into. The negative things aside, I will read the second book in the series and I am hoping this series lives up to the potential it does have because some of the ideas and characters were interesting. Worth trying if you like PNR.
