Our story opens with Dominique Chantal languishing in a prison at the Chateau de Loches in March of 1803. She has been entrusted with the duty of delivering a medallion to a group of people intent upon overthrowing Napoleon. With her imminent death apparent she is rescued at the last moment by Andre Montville - an alleged spy for Napoleon. Forced to marry, the two embark upon and adventure wrought with danger, peril, betrayal, and love.
