A fascinating combination of Chinese history and culture combined with Troost's personal experiences, both horrifying and hilarious, traveling through China. His initial quest is to find a place where he could move with his wife and two young boys, which made this work particularly interesting to me. (Incidentally, he decided that he couldn't justify moving them to such a polluted nation.)

The only reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is that it didn't make me laugh out loud nearly as often as "The Sex Lives of Cannibals."
