Fifth in the series, and don't start here but with the first book God Stalk or you'll be hopelessly lost. That said, Jame's experiences this time around are much easier to follow, more like the straightforward story Hodgell started with in God Stalk and a lot less hallucinatory than Seeker's Mask. I won't go through the book's events as there is a lot going on. Hodgell is letting Jame grow up - she's not so impulsive or determined to throw off good advice, she's learning patience and what it means to be a leader. Tori is still fighting off his father's influence but there are signs of movement there too. We are seeing more of the Merikit and other tribes, and also learning more about the uneasy coexistence of the Kencyrath and Rathillien gods. Hodgell has a great fantasy world going here, I wish Jame & Tori's stories were moving a bit faster, but it's good stuff nonetheless.
