After her husband's unexpected death, Rocky leaves behind her career as a psychologist to hide out for a year on a small island in Maine. While there, she takes a job as an animal control warden and cautiously makes friends with the locals. She finally opens her heart again when an black lab who has been injured under suspicious circumstances is taken into her care. When the truth about the dog's past comes out and it looks as though she will lose him, Rocky must decide whether to keep hiding or to start living again.
I thought from the cover that Lost & Found would be a cute chicklit story about a lonely woman and her dog. Instead it is a sensitively written story about grief and how animals and trusting people can help one move beyond it. Though the ending feels contrived and doesn't really jive with the rest of the book, Lost & Found is nevertheless an enjoyable read for dog lovers.
