Of course everyone is going to compare Sue Harrison's books to Jean Auel's Clan of the Cave Bear novels. They share a strong female protagonist working against horrendous odds--difficulties of both culture and of Mother Nature. But where Auel focuses a lot of her descriptive powers on the physical landscape with its plants and animals, Harrison has concentrated more on the myths and legends of the early Northern peoples. A good read!
