In book #3 Sookie and Bill, her vampire boyfriend/lover, encounter some hard times, both in life and in love. I have enjoyed this series a lot, getting impatient while I work my way up the wish list for the next book. Apparently a lot of other PBS members like these books!
I won't tell you the plot, just my reactions. There's a lot of mysteriousness surrounding why Bill has been kidnapped by the King of Louisiana (did you know vampires had divided up the country into kingdoms?) while working for the Queen of Louisiana. Hmmm. Eventually, when we find out the reason for everything that happens, it isn't all that convincing to me. Minor disappointment.
Sookie gets involved with a "were" (as in werewolf) being who, while in human form, is a sensitive hunky sort of guy. There are romantic sparks flying right and left while she's with him. Interesting new territory here for Sookie.
Overall, my reaction is very positive, falling into A- to B+ territory. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment.
