During Redingote's annual village fete, Dr. Radlett's wife is discovered dead in the center of the maze. Detective Superintendent Trewley and Sergeant Stone interview the villagers, who had set up their stalls on the same grounds, to find out why Mrs. Radlett, who was not familiar with the maze, and a foreigner in the village, would have ventured into the maze alone - and why had she been so pale that day? It turns out that there are a number of people bearing a grudge against her, and with the excitement of the fete ... who knows who might have followed her?

This is a quick read, not very interesting, even a bit boring sometimes ... and, considering it was copyrighted in 1993, surprisingly sexist.
