I liked that this story took you out of the typical London ballroom and into a completely different environment - a ship at sea and eventually the Arctic. However, I found it difficult to get into the romance when the hero is accepting the heroine only "in spite" of all her character flaws which he never fails to point out in their encounters. Much as I liked Joanna, I really never came to like Alex. Even when he thought he was morally superior, his intention was to get a child on a woman he didn't like and then leave her. Doesn't sound particularly heroic to me. The book ended without us ever knowing if Joanna was able to have a child and I don't believe there was ever a follow-up in other books, which I read out of order. Overall okay but not one I'll rush to re-read.
