9th and final (probably) installament of the Greywalker series. Richardson wraps it up with an epic battle in Portugal. The entire character arc of Carlos was pretty interesting to me, although I kind of wished she'd left him dead. He is definitely more sympathetic in this book but he's still a monster. Are we supposed to think he's reformed now, or is it just that there will be evil in the world, and he's part of it. I liked very much how Harper has problems in the Grey, with so much history happening there including the terrible earthquake in Lisbon. I liked the ghosts a lot although I did wonder how Harper didn't notice whatsername was a ghost at first. I didn't care much for Quinton's jealousy of Carlos - I mean really, how could he think that? And Harper felt...ineffectual to me for the most part. I was happy that she was the one to put an end to the evil plot, but she gets permanently damaged in the process (Richardson apologizes but I felt like she was smiling when she wrote it). The Danzigers show up one last time, that was okay. I wonder who is taking care of the ferret? Anyway, it's been a pretty good series, but it's fine with me to end it here.
