Struggled on with this long after I was sure it wasn't working for me, and I have liked and admired three other worlds by MMS. But, at the half-way point, I think I have to admit that it isn't working for me, and move on.
It is the sort of book where, I think, the author is having a much better time than the reader. Every "clever" thing in it has been done, more cleverly, by someone else. (I'm looking at you, Douglas Adams ...) The wise-guy voice of the narrator was grating.
