Laura Farleigh is running out of time. She must be wed by her twenty-first birthday in order to inherit the manor house she lives in with her younger siblings. With only a month to go, Laura stumbles across an injured man lying in the forest. When he regains consciousness and has no memory of who he is, Laura takes advantage of that and tells him that he is her fiance returned from the war. Sterling Harlow was on his way to confront Miss Farleigh after receiving her letter taking him to task for never replying to his dying mother, when he suffers an accident. Now Sterling has no memory or his name and no memory of his life, but he is thankful for his beautiful fiancee who is helping him through this trying time.

Teresa Medeiros has written a humorous retelling of the Sleeping Beauty Fairy Tale. Sterling Harlow is a hardened man who was sold by his father to the Duke of Devonbrooke at the age of seven. His mother never came to retrieve him. He blames both of them for the abuse he suffered at the hands of the Duke and will never forgive them. But when he loses his memory, he gets a chance to live his life as it should have been lived, with a new family and the love of a woman who cares about him. I loved seeing Sterling's transformation at the hands of the Farleigh family. I look forward to reading about the younger Farleigh sister in the next book in the series. My rating: 4 Stars.
