I was not so thrilled with this one. It is the story of Rose MacEwan, an ancestor of Morgan's father. It was basically a coming of age story told in the first person point of view. Rose felt that her high-priestess mother was envious of her powers and was holding her back. When she fell in love with a boy from another clan and was betrayed, she turned to dark magick. This book tells of the origins of the dark wave that has decimated various clans through the years. I found it rather childish (for a 17 year old girl) and had to force myself to finish. Definitely not my favorite of the series.
