A horrible beginning to a horrible series. Most of the characters are all straight cliches, and Edward is simply abusive. The storyline itself is typical, and while that could be excused if it had some strong characters, this DOESN'T. The writing style is amateur-ish and unneccesarily drawn out. To sum it up, it's basicly a middle-aged lady's wet dream that she decided to write and sell to ignorant teenage girls who haven't read anything else in their life. I would highly advise you not to read it.
If you're looking for a GOOD dramatic fantasy with real characters, may I suggest Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, or J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. Just STAY AWAY from this. Somewhere along the way, someone just acidentally dropped this series into the hype-machine. That's it. HYPE.
