This book took everything I loved about Jeanette Walls' story telling and gave me a fresh set of characters and circumstances to be fascinated by. The main character, Bean, is coming of age while others around her are a whirlwind of melancholy with a side order of peculiar charm making each one lovable and mysterious in their very own way. Although there was a slight disconnect with the story line for me, knowing that these weren't in any way factual, as her other captivating tales, the characters made up for it at every turn. I hope you find it as appealing and delightful as I did.
