This is the first book in the Demon Slayer series by Fox. Right now there are seven books in this series. I got this for free on my Kindle a couple years ago and am just finally getting around to reading it. This was an okay read; it reminds a lot of Molly Harper books but with demons.

Lizzie Brown works at the Happy Hands preschool and her life is completely changed when she comes to find a demon on her toilet. Then her biker grandma enters the scenes and tells Lizzie she's a powerful demon slayer and in horrible danger. After that her dog starts talking to her and the sexy shapeshifting griffin, Dimitri Kallinikos, claims he is protector. That's when things start to really go downhill fast.

This book reminds a bit of a Molly Harper book but featuring demons instead of vamps or werewolves (although there are werewolves in this story too). Although I didn't think it was as funny as the Molly Harper books or quite as well written.

The story is a bit campy and over the top. It was okay but not really my thing. It was an okay humorous paranormal romance read.

Lizzie kind of fell flat for me as a character; she comes across as a bit ditzy and whiny. I didn't really like her insta-love with Dimitri either. Her biker gma and her witch coven were just a bit too silly for me as well. Additionally I found Lizzie's talk dog Pirate to be more annoying than funny (usually I am a fan of the talking animal sidekick but it didn't work here).

I did like the idea of demon slayer genes being inherited (not completely original but interesting). I also liked that Fox included a shapeshifting griffin, that was kind of neat and different. Aside from those things though the book was just okay.

Overall an okay goofy paranormal romance read. Fans of Molly Harper might want to check it out although it's not as funny or as well written as Harper's series. I didn't hate the book, but I didn't really like it all that much either...just okay all around.
