This is a wonderful historical novel that deals with slavery, the right for women to vote & prohibition. Underneath the story is the lives of 4 women of a family & how they each handled the crisis in their lives. From Great-Grandma to young Harriet, they each had to find God's Will for their lives & then choose to follow it. I enjoyed seeing the various areas of American history through the eyes of a specific woman & I felt I really knew these women as they each learned from their struggles to find God's Will for their lives what God truly wants from each of us. I highly recommend this book, another excellent tale from Lynn Austin.
