Not one of Dean Koontz's best. The book is pretty predictable, but it's a quick read. The story centers around a gal who devotes her live to rescuring retrievers (surprised??) and her architect boyfriend who goes on missions with her. Turns out that one of the retrievers she rescues has made appearances during several pivotal points in her past, and helped her through the rough times. The characters she battles are a freaky female and her lover (no surprise who he turned out to be). I'm not certain where the title fits in. Maybe I'll think about that later.
