I am excited about this new world. Gage is on the run from the Tower and all the good (if really bad) wizards and witches. Humans (again) are the underdogs now living in terror of the Magic Users. Gage escaped being kept in tow by the Council and now runs a tattoo parlor called Asylum. He has been banned from using magic except in self defense and is resigned to using potions mixed in with the ink in the tats.

Trixie is an Elf and on the run from the King of the Summer Court because he wants an heir and wants her to be his consort. So not happening.

Bronx who also works with for Gage is a troll and has his own secrets. The three of them have formed a family of sorts and wish to keep it that way.

However Simon, Gages former tutor and bad-to-the bone wizard, wants him dead. Gideon, a wizard guardian, hounds Gage to keep him in line. Many other lessor characters who are none the less interesting make the world being spun by Jocelynn Drake very entertaining.
