Not Tepper's best work, but an excellent book nonetheless. It's an interesting twist to the traditional "reversal of gender dominance theme" and has an interesting SF main plot. Like many of Tepper's books, she addresses touchy gender and religion issues set in a well thought-out world. Sociological commentary is her strength, and this book is no exception.
