Autumn Shadows is the second book in the Northern Intrigue series. I read the first book, Winter's Secret, a few years ago and decided it was time to get back to reading the rest of the series. This series is set in a small, Wisconsin town and is peopled with interesting characters. Each story includes a romance, mystery and suspense, and an opportunity to get involved in the life of a small town.
Autumn Shadows focuses on high school principal, Keely Turner, and pranks that began at her school, which seem to be escalating and becoming more dangerous. Deputy Burke Sloan, who is new to town, is assigned to the high school to determine the source of the pranks and to offer protection to the students and specifically to Ms. Turner.
The story is entertaining and keeps the reader guessing as to who the miscreant or miscreants might be. There are also many relationship problems which add depth to the story, and an excellent spiritual thread that is woven throughout the novel. The romance that begins to develop between Keely and Burke has many obstacles to overcome in order to arrive at a satisfying ending.
I recommend this novel to those who enjoy romantic suspense in Christian fiction.
