Being a very dated story left the "high tech" stuff not really so high tech but that doesn't detract from the story. The story was a good one but the ending was just so-so for me. Nothing changed, nothing was going to change and that was the point of the story. When you realize that we are living in a post several apocalypses world and we consider everything normal why would you expect the descendants of the survivors of the next one to be any different? They were not in the story and that very point is brought out several times.
