In the fifteenth century Scottish Highlands, the Mackay and Mackenna clans have been fighting for years so no one is surprised when hostilities break out again. However, wanting an end to the seemingly back and forth battle of revenge in which both clans lose, the MacKay Laird approaches his Mackenna counterpart with an odd deal when he offers his daughter Gillian in marriage. Laird Ross Mackenna wants to end the bloodshed too while saving face.He met Gillian on the battlefield and appreciates her fiery spirit so he agrees.
Everyone on both sides of the feud is elated with the upcoming nuptials that will ring in peace and prosperity for all. That is everyone except Gillian who feels like a pawn and another suitor who wants the lass' fortune for himself even if that means igniting the feud into an inferno.
The gender battle between the lead protagonists make for a fine time for historical romance readers as Gillian proves more than a match for Ross. The story line is fast-paced with these strange bedfellows fighting one another and enemies who want their nuptials ended before they begin.
