First book by Rimmer I have read.
After reading this book, I would not hesitate to read another Rimmer book. Tells the story of a young 15 year old polish girl, Alina, who lives a sheltered life on a farm with her loving parents at the start of WW2. With her parents blessing she gets engaged to a childhood friend who is leaving to go to college in Warsaw to become a doctor.
The present day story centers around Alice, a mother whose son Eddie is diagnosed on the autism spectrum, and a key part of the plot involves the challenges she faces in caring for him while also dealing with family secrets from her grandmother's past.
This story had me in tears. Highly recommend!
