A championship swimmer was found dead in Denton University's pool. Nysa Somers was found fully clothed. She didn't seem to be injured. Was it suicide? Detective Josie Quinn tries to reconstruct Nysa's last hours. She finds her backpack in the woods, but it turns up nothing of interest except a baggie with crumbs in it, and her cellphone which shows a message saying "Be a Mermaid". After the autopsy, Nysa's blood was sent to the lab; but Josie's interviews with Nysa's friends say she would never do drugs.

The next day a retired firefighter sets fire to his home with his granddaughters inside. They make it out alive and tell the police that their grandfather kept saying "Be a Match". Something inexplicable is happening to the people in Denton. It's up to Josie and her team to discover what is happening and who is behind it.

This is the tenth book in the Detective Josie Quinn series and it's one of the best. I was completely stumped by what was going on. I had no idea what would happen next, but I was completely enthralled by this mystery. I highly recommend this story (and series). My rating: 5 Stars.
