The Footprints of Satan

A virtually unknown author of impossible crime mysteries, I found Berrow's style very pleasing and enjoyed this book. It perhaps is a little longer than it need be, but it's a well done example of the puzzle of footprints that begin and end in the middle of a snowy street.

The identity of the killer was a surprise, but thinking back on it, all the clues were there for the reader, and once Inspector Lancelot Carolus Smith figures out the solution to the devil's spoor, the reader should be able to, also.

Recommended for devotees of golden age, locked room mysteries set in small English villages.
