Lord Winter, a military "hero" who has been cast out of the army in disgrace, wanders to the Middle East in search of a precious Arabian mare. He discovers Zenia, the daughter of the famous Esther Stanhope, who has disguised herself as a young boy.
Lord Winter is a survivalist--his morals are dependent upon the situation at hand--as long as he can come out alive at the end.
Eventually they must learn how to live together, even worse, they must learn how to live together in lush Engalnd, rather than the desert, where each of them is more comfortable.
Laura Kinsale writes excellent books.
