Though the plot to this book was somewhat predictable, Ann Brashares made this book stand out by opening the heads and hearts of her three protaganists. Whether man or woman, the reader knows what it is like to be these three people and can find, in each of them, a sympathetic vein. At the end, the reader can see how misunderstandings, regardless of the intent of the people involved, can spiral out of control, or at least nearly out of their control.
