This is a delightful book set in NY's Lower Eastside in 1912. The sisters are wonderful, fully realized characters. I love that each chapter is a story unto itself. I think this would be a wonderful read-aloud for 2nd or third grade. My 7th and 5th graders are listening to it on our commute and seem to be enjoying it. A+. I wished I had read these when I was young!
