Jan Burke is a wonderful author and this book shows it. A collection of short stories, this book really showcases her work and her range beyond her well-known Irene Kelly character. The short stories are mainly mystery stories, including a couple of "ghost stories". As enjoyable as the stories is the preface written by Burke explaining the stories and how she came to write/publish them. It gives the stories a more personal touch.
My favorite had to be "Unharmed". I can't give away anything about this one, but I promise, you will reread it just to see if it gave you any clues that you missed (sort of like when you first watched "The Sixth Sense"!).
