Long book, I read through his Senate years (that was 1/3 of the book, so the story of his presidency occupies the bulk of the book), it was overwhelmingly a complimentary book. Truman and Lyndon Johnson were on Capitol Hill, in different chambers, much of the same time (Johnson a little further down the relative pecking order), and they seemed to have similar histories, political views, and personalities, but there's no mention in what I read of them crossing paths in the 1935-1945 period.
